The short version: when a build is released we give you a personal licence to play it. You do not own the software, you may not redistribute or repackage it, and it comes with no guarantees.
Last updated · August 2026You get permission to play. Ownership of the software stays with us.
Do not mirror, repackage, or hand out modified builds of the client.
Only builds from our own channels are covered. Anything else is not ours.
This agreement is between you and Obsidian Games, the team behind ROS: Origin, and covers any game client, test build, or launcher we release. By installing or playing it you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, do not install it. It sits alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy policy.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and play the game for your own personal entertainment, on devices you control. The software is licensed rather than transferred to you — no ownership passes to you, and no rights beyond those written here are granted.
The original code, art, audio, and writing created for ROS: Origin belong to Obsidian Games and its contributors. All trademarks, names, logos, and characters associated with the original game remain the property of their respective owners; this project is a fan work and claims no rights over them. Rights holder concerns are handled at Copyright & takedown.
If a build requires an account, keep your credentials to yourself and do not share or sell access. We may suspend or terminate access for cheating, abuse of other players, or breaches of this agreement. Because the project is in active development, accounts, progress, and test data may be reset between builds.
The game may update automatically, change substantially between builds, or be taken offline. We may modify, suspend, or end the project at any time without liability. Only builds obtained from our official channels are covered by this agreement — copies from anywhere else are not ours and may be unsafe.
The game is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Test builds are experimental and may contain bugs. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Obsidian Games and its team are not liable for any loss or damage — including lost data or hardware issues — arising from installing or playing it. Where local law does not allow these limits, they apply only as far as it permits.
This licence ends automatically if you break these terms, and you must then stop playing and delete your copy. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the game. We may update this agreement as the project develops; the date above will change and significant updates will be announced. Questions go to Contact@ObsidianGames.net.
